Choosing an auspicious date: how the panchang guides a muhurat

5 min read

A muhurat is a window of time chosen so that the ritual begins under supportive conditions. Four elements guide the choice: the tithi (lunar day), the nakshatra (the star the moon occupies), the yoga, and the karana.

For a first look, the panchangam on this site follows the Kanchi tradition and is calculated for your city, so sunrise, sunset and the anga end times match where you actually live.

In practice we start from your family calendar. Once I know which weekends work and which relatives are travelling, I look for the strongest window inside those dates rather than handing you a single fixed day.

Share two or three possible dates and I will confirm which one carries the better timing, along with the hour the ritual should begin.
